All ages comics and manga for 7/29/09
Comics remain king on the list. Archie’s Sabrina vol 2: Young Salem arc finally comes to an end. Boom! Studios starts another Muppet Show series, and Dark Horse has a new Star Wars Adventures for younger readers. The Astro Boy movie got a lot of good reactions from fans at SDCC, so check out the prequel series from IDW with the third issue out this week.

Evil & Malice Save the World TP (ISBN: 978-1607060918) – 13 year old twins Evelyn and Malinda are the daughters of the infamous (but soft-hearted) villain, The Black Eye. When a group of supervillains gang up their father, the girls start acting like superheroes to protect their father and his secret identity. I saw this book in Previews several months ago, and thought it was a terrific title, especially for tween-teen girls. The two protagonists, twin sisters, aren’t goitn to sit around and watch their father get taken down. They take matters into their own hands, and I think that’s a great example for girls to see.
Cartoon Chronicles of America TP v1: Road to Revolution – Kids get the wrong idea that History is boring, so it’s fortunate that there are creators out there willing to prove them wrong. This first volume starts with a pivotal moment in American history, the Revolutionary War. Nick and Penny are two teens from different backgrounds and attitudes, but have one thing in common; they want the British out of their town of Boston. They interact with some of America’s greatest historical figures in order to try and help the revolutionaries. Anything that makes history fun and gets kids interested in it is a plus in my book.
