All ages comics and manga for 7/1/09
Boom! Studios controls the list again this week, with two Disney/Pixar titles and two Muppet titles. Mr. Stuffins is a new addition to the list, as I was unsure if I was age appropriate, but I finally found some confirmation of it’s kid-friendliness. It’s about a teddy bear the comes to life and believes he is a secret agent. It has a kid-friendly premise, but that’s not always a guarantee. Dark Horse also premieres a new kids line of classic tales that perfect for the youngest readers.

Finding Nemo Reef Rescue #1 – Boom! Studios continues it’s Disney/Pixar hits with a new series based on Finding Nemo. Nemo, Dory & Marlin have become local heroes at their reef, and are recruited to look into a mystery; the reef is dying! Nemo and friends must once again face the dangers of the ocean to find the answer. Considering the popularity that Boom! Studio’s books have getting lately, and the strength of Finding Nemo as a property, expect this title sells out fast.
POP Wonderland HC Volume 1: Thumbelina – Dark Horse debuts a new line of children’s books with this title, illustrated by well known Japanese artist POP who also illustrated the children’s educational line Moetan in Japan. Based on the Hans Christian Anderson classic tale, Thumbelina, born from the center of a flower, captivates everyone with charm and innocence, but is swept away by a frog to marry his son. And so beginning Thumbelina’s adventures. The art for this title is drawn, in a friendly, watercolor style, and the hard cover binding makes it perfect for youngsters and libraries.
