All ages comics and manga for 6/17/09

June 20, 2009 by Lori Henderson   Leave a Comment

It’s a good mix of comics, graphic novels and manga this week.  Graphix has more Bone GNs, and Harper Collins keeps their Warriors fanbase happy with another volume of original story manga.  Image Comics has a book for the little kids about one of their favorite subjects, dinosaurs!  Marvel has an interesting reference handbook for older tweens or anyone who loves the animals of the Marvel Universe.  Marvel Pets Handbook is be a good companion to the Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers title.

Picks:

Warriors: Tigerstar & Sasha GN Vol 3 – This is the final volume to the second Warriors 3 volume series.  Sasha has had her kittens, and she is raising them by herself in the woods far from the Shadowclan’s territory.  But still she worries that Tigerstar will find out about his children, and as Leafbare continues and food becomes harder to find, she begins to wonder if her kittens wouldn’t be better off in a clan.  Sasha is a wonder and fascinating character, and seeing her backstory has been great.  This concluding volume to her journey from kittypet to rouge is a must read for Warriors fans!

Robot Galaxy #1 Brotherhood Returns – Robot Galaxy is a retail brand of interactive stores, online play and comics books.  The comics tell the story of CJ-531 and RAH, two robots built by scientists at Los Alamos.  They are launched into space and never returned.  Presumed lost, CJ returns 60 years later.  He has built a brotherhood of robots, and now wants to learn about his origins.  What will he learn on his return, and what is RAH, the not-so-altruistic of the pair plotting?  What makes me bring this title up is that it is as true science fiction story, it emphasized science, robotics and space exploration, fields that I feel don’t get as much exposure as they deserve.  While targeted for boys, I don’t want to see it limited.  Both boys and girls can enjoy and be interested in these topics and stories.
