Picks:
Marvel Adventures Avengers TP Vol 8 – This trade collects issues 28-31 of the regular series. Stories include Thor trying to go on a date with Storm, while his father, the Norse god Odin, wants to set him up with a Frost Giant’s daughter, the Avengers try to rescue a cat in a tree that also resides in another dimension, Tigra watches the Avengers from afar, but for what reason?, and finally Tigra, now an Avenger, joins the team at the beach in California, where a fishing competition between Iron Man and Luke Cage dredges up not just some monster fish, but Namor, the Prince of Atlantis! These stories definitely have a feel for being more than just superheros fighting villains, and should appeal to the younger audience it’s targeted for. As a trade, this will be easy for libraries and teachers to add to their library. Marvel Adventures Avengers sounds like an interesting title and should be given a serious look. It appears to be more than just a "Jr. Avengers".

Johnny Boo HC Vol 2 – Johnny Boo returns for his second book, and now he’s got boo power! But his pet ghost Squiggle has Squiggle power. Which is better? Is there a greater power? Squiggle goes on a quest to learn about twinkle power, but instead a strange secret is learned about Johnny Boo’s hair. This is a title that will appeal most to the younger end of the All Ages scale. The collection of short, fun stories and simple art will drawn them in, while parents, teachers, and librarians will appreciate the appropriateness of the content. The light humor is a good distraction for kids now being pressured with state tests.
