Linkfest: New year, new projects

January 24, 2009 by Brigid Alverson   Leave a Comment

Here’s the big news of the day: Bone creator Jeff Smith has a new project in the works: A children’s graphic novel for Toon Books.

At Occasional Superheroine, Valerie D’Orazio notes that the first issue of Marvel’s all-ages Wonderful Wizard of Oz has sold out, despite conventional wisdom that all-ages comic don’t sell. Check the comments for some interesting reactions from those who have bought it for themselves, their kids, or their libraries.

Mark Waid talks to Comic Book Resources about Boom Studios’ upcoming Disney/Pixar comics line and their first comic, The Incredibles.

Park Cooper talks to Chynna Clugston about her latest book, Blue Monday, and issues of style and finding an audience, at Manga Life.

Michigan’s Kalamazoo News has a nice article on local talent Mark Crilley, the creator of Akiko and Miki Falls.
